General Energy Conservation Advice
Air-conditioning Systems
  • • Consider using centralized type air conditioning system rather than non-centralized type system
       if possible.
  • • Consider using water cooled chillers instead of air cooled type for centralized system
  • • Opt to use Grade 1 Energy Label for window-type and split-type air-conditioners
  • • Maintaining the indoor temperature at 25.5 °C or at appropriate temperature range.
  • • Regular maintenance of the air conditioning system to keep the system running in high efficiency.
  • • Installation of solar films on windows to minimize the external heat gain to the premises.
  • • Place “Energy Saving Alerts” labels in common areas in offices.
Lighting & Electrical Systems
  • • Opt to use T5 fluorescent tubes with electronic ballasts instead of old type T8, T10 or T12 tubes
  • • Opt to use halogen lamps for accent lighting application
  • • Avoid using incandescent lamps
  • • Switch to use LED lamps where appropriate
  • • Switch to use LED EXIT Signs and Emergency Lights
  • • Consider to use compact fluorescent lamps or LED type fluorescent lamps with Grade 1 Energy Label
  • • Installation of occupancy detectors and digital timers in areas which are infrequently used. The
devices can help controlling the switching of the lights when not occupied for a certain period of time.
  • • Re-design of lighting zones so that the lights can be controlled in small groups such that partial lighting
       can be achieved.
  • • Install those high reflectors for lighting fixtures such as aluminum and silver reflectors
Audio-visual Equipment
  • • Use the equipment with higher ranks of Energy Label
  • • Disconnect power source after using audio-visual equipment
Computers/Office Equipment
  • • Disconnect power source after each use of equipment
  • • Phase out CRT monitors
  • • Ensure sleep mode or energy saving mode are enabled during operating hours
Miscellaneous
  • • Disconnect power source after using electrical equipment
